AC vent

I'm finally tired of how warm it is in my study.
In my study I have both of my computer systems, and in the closet of that room I have all my AV equipment (AV receiver, DVD, VCR, Cable box).

The room stays about 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. So I'm thinking of cutting in a new AC vent into that closet.

Anyone have suggestions or gotcha's when cutting into an existing duct?

How far are you running the line? have you seen how far it is you have to run? Only curious because I took and HVAC class back in high school and did extreamly well in it.
