Actually, doesn't really sound like much of a change over BF2. Actually, it looks more like a BF2 expansion than a whole new game.

But when you look at how EA handles its sport franchises (Madden, NHL,..), seems that having minor tweaks and releasing it as a full version full priced new game is their way of going.

If things are released as stated in that document, then I don't see the point in purchasing it

I'll follow this with mild interest because of how much I enjoyed BF2. However, unless there's concrete evidence that issues have been recitfied and it's an exponential improvement, it stands as much chance with me as ET:QW2. ... Which doesn't look good right now.

Games I will be buying before Battlefield 3:

Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue 2

Eggs of Steel (I'm not making that title up)

Grand Theft Auto: Vatican City (this one, maybe...)

Shaq Fu 2

Any titles I have missed?

I think that even though I hate EA I would look hard at this game just due to the squad teamwork setup. With all it's issues the BF games are still geared toward teamwork which is what I like in a game.

It kind of irks me when you here about sequels "new great features" that where actually supposed to be in the original game e.g. : "n-game replay and recording feature"

"Built-in auto software updater (no more patches!, ed.)"

I also don't like the sound of this given EA's track record. They can just release half-arsed patches and ridiculous balancing changes (ala bf2) when ever they like, meaning you cant choose to not install it.

+1000 bf2 was supposed to have 100 players, never implemented. it was supposed to have a customizable soldier. never happened. advanced battlefield physics. never completed.

advanced battlefield physics. never completed.

You gotta admit, though, when an artillery shell hit you directly, and your soldier flew dozens of feet into the air...that was pretty neat. :D

If the BF series goes back to a more modern-day focus, that'll be nice. And not to say TF2 doesn't have technical issues...but, EA's "patches" left a sour taste in my mouth. If BF3 is going to be rushed like its predecessors, that'll be a lot of wasted potential.
