All of a sudden getting this err

Been playing this game for years...and all of a sudden I get THIS error like 30 secs into the game:

I went to the link provided, but the solutions there all untrue and useless. Why would, after years of playing this game, this do this all of a sudden?

Maybe your internet connection is bein a bit strained, I get it sometimes and it turns out my network shut off for a bit.

No...too easy.

Would like to be able to solve this without RE-installing it.

For some reason, my friends list not even coming up, says steam servers are down for routine maint.

That happend to me once, but the next day it was fine

yea happened to me too....maybe its the servers
