Personally, while it has elements that I enjoy, the feel of the game just doesn't quite do it for me. It was fun to play for a while, but the sameness of it quickly wore on me. I may eventually decide to give it another shot (that is, if the community stays strong and continues to grow), but there are plenty of other games that I feel are worth playing even more (TF2, Halo 3 MP, UT3).

To each his own really. Enjoy the game for what its worth :2thumbs:

To be fair, the doom 3 engine DOES have its good points. Unfortunately for Quake Wars, one of them isn't being optimized for multiplayer.

I do agree that its time to put the D3 engine out to pasture. Not the best engine by a long shot, but it served its purpose in advancing the industry.

+4 linear gameplay can't be fixed by any ammount of fancy weapons and graphics, and let's just be blunt, the graphics suck. :)

What did the beta have? The demo had valley, and was a lot of fun. There's a lot more maps then 2142 ever had, and sameness? There's tons of new missions to do, and there's tons of secondary missions to do. New missions are added if someone, let's say, deploys the APT, and you destroy it, you get XP. They do a really good job of making the team work together, as the only real way to rank up is completing missions

Yes it did. But the doom 3 engine will forever be remembered as a single player engine. There is no mp game on the d3 engine that doesnt blow!

doom 3, quake 4, prey all had great sp but they all had crap mp. But they did raise the bar on graphics back in the day. They set the standard that we expect now. But the doom 3 engine cant live up to that standard anymore.

Unreal 3 has set the new standard and there is now way the d3 engine can compete with it. Sad but true. Its to bad because had the doom 3 engine been able to handle mulitplayer better it would have been perceived a lot better.
