ZipZoomFly offering the MSI P6N Platinum SLI board (650i) for $135.
I just bought it last week for $147, so if you are in the market for a 650 board, this is a GREAT price.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=249641

It offers a very nice heatsink/heatpipe layout and Firewire, which is the main differences between this board and the cheaper MSI P6N FI board available for around $108.

Toshiba HD DVD Promotion

16 May 2007 20:06 by DVDBack23
Toshiba HD DVD PromotionIn a new effort to promote HD DVD, Toshiba said in a press release that they would be offering a "Father's Day Sale" on their HD-A2 player.

The deal is as follows and will surely bring new buyers to the table.

"From May 20 through June 16, consumers that purchase any Toshiba HD DVD player will receive a $100 in-store instant rebate."

Also:

"Toshiba continues to offer its well accepted five free HD DVD movie mail-in offer promotion. Running through July 31, 2007, consumers who purchase any Toshiba HD DVD player can get five HD DVD titles for free. Consumers can choose the five free HD DVD movies from a selection of 15".

Doing some quick math will show that after the rebate, the HD-A2 will cost you $299 USD and will come with 5 HD DVD movies that have a combined MSRP of $150 USD.

Toshiba says this promotion is for any store selling the HD-A2 and I feel it is an excellent deal for those that werent sure about moving on to next gen DVDs. Be reminded that the closest priced Blu ray player is double the price, at $600.

7600GS PCIe 128mb vid card deal

Found this card going for under $30 plus S/H which would be ideal for an HTPC rig or a spare light duty gamer rig:

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=GF7600GS-128HDTV-P&cat=VCD

This should outperform a 6600GT. This card would certainly be great for older games, and it does h.264 acceleration for HTPC applications. The only problem is that the heatsink is pretty big, definitely more than one slot.

Keep in mind that Geeks was recently found to have had their 'secure' servers compromised, so if possible pay with Paypal to be extra safe.

Use coupon code "mc exclusives' for an extra 10% off the listed price of $32.50

Here's another nice deal for the techie type who like this kind of gadgetry.

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3298386

I installed this unit for a customer and they paid just over 100 dollars for it. On that page the top review says that the esata ports didnt work on both the units that guy had, but they worked fine on the one I installed.

XFX 8800GS Alpha Dog for $149

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150275&nm_mc=AFC-Techreport&cm_mmc=AFC-Techreport-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA

Newegg has the XFX 8800GS 384mb PCIe video card for $159 with a $10 off coupon code of "videocard010" (without the quotes) to get the price down to $149.99 shipped.

This card should only be about 20-25% slower than the full-blown 8800 GT, which makes it a very good deal at that price. XFX also covers it with a "double lifetime" warranty that applies even to overclocked and second-hand cards.

Duke, as far as the Step Up, I assume you registered the card within 30 days of purchase ? That is now a requirement of the eVGA lifetime warranty plan.

Also, you cannot step up to any of the SC, KO or ACS series cards .. you can only step up to their regular cards, which has many of the guys buying those cards ticked off. In your case, even a 9600GT would be a big improvement for the system.

PS - eVGA 9800GTX for $299 at the Egg, $279 at TigerDirect using Google Checkout.

Bro cash back is such a waste of time. I fill that complicated form and then wait 6 months. I'll try it when they make it a bit faster than they actually release new items.

http://www.officemax.com/omax/catalog/sku.jsp?skuId=21512132&cm_mmc=Channel%20Intelligence-_-Partner-_-HP-_-Technology&srccode=cii_7240393&cpncode=18-3142173

Price drop all the way down to $299 for the 500gb server version. The 1tb unit is selling for $399 as well. I highly recommend one if you have multiple PCs and want full image data backups. It could not be any easier to manage as well.

More details:
# Easy file sharing and streaming
# Centralize and share files and media across your network
# Remotely access your files and applications from any Internet-connected computer
# Stream photos, music, and videos to PCs on your network and TV and stereo system
# Automatically copy iTunes music libraries from family members' PCs to the server for streaming
# Web sharing, backups, and more
# Create a photo Web site on your server with HP Photo Webshare, then share photos and video clips with only people you designate
# Invite people to your photo site: set up a personal Web address; visitors can download full-resolution photos or upload their own pics and video clips
# Automatically back up desktop PCs and laptops running Windows XP or later
# Add extra protection: designate folders that will be automatically duplicated on multiple hard drives
# Expand your storage via three internal hard-drive bays, four USB 2.0 ports, and eSATA port.

I use mine for full image backups (saved my butt twice already in one year), web hosting and also remote access. These units are being phased out for newer Home Server v2 units that are soon to come out, but at this price its very affordable if you value your data.

Yeah, the "gamer" section pretty much blows. As a related aside, Black Friday this year is, overall, quite pathetic. It's probably the worst I can remember, even though it should be much better given the economy. I'm hoping that's a result of having to prepare this stuff months in advance, and that the sales over the next 4 weeks are much better.
