I know gas ovens are supposed to not be the best for baking. Well my wife is complaining that it wildly fluctuates in temp. Do you folks know of a way to calibrate it or is it maybe a part that needs replacing. Its a 12 year Oven with a gas range. In the twelve years I lived here I really haven't used the oven that much. She wants an electric oven but, I hate electric ranges. Any suggestions?

i've got a gas oven here and it works fine.... has she ever put a cooking thermometer into the oven and checked to see if the temp really does go all over the place? Besides, with electric stoves you do have the element that can do out. highly doubtful that it would, but it could.

Just call your local repair service and let them replace teh thermostat (or whatever might be malfunctioning there). As far as gas vs. electric oven - they should both be equally good for cooking/baking as long as the thermostat is functioning properly.
